Hydraulic cylinders
Hydraulic cylinders are stripped, repaired and pressure tested, with each component checked against its specification.
What the work covers
Disassembly and inspection
We strip down the cylinder and assess every component for wear, damage and tolerance loss. Technicians record the condition of the barrel, rod, seals and end caps, so you can see what needs attention before any work begins.
Barrel repairs
Worn, scored or out-of-round barrels are restored to factory specification by rechroming and honing. This returns the bore to a precise finish and diameter, which protects the seals and keeps the cylinder free of leaks.
Rod replacement
Bent, pitted or corroded piston rods are replaced with precision-machined rods built to the original specification, restoring strength and a smooth sealing surface.
Hard chroming
Where required, the barrel’s internal surface and the rod’s external surface are stripped and given a new corrosion-resistant hard chrome layer, then ground and polished to the required tolerance.
Weld repairs with ultrasonic testing
Certified welders repair cracks, mounting points and structural damage on cylinder bodies and components. Welds are made to industry standards and checked by ultrasonic testing.
Pressure testing
Before a cylinder leaves the workshop, it is pressure tested to verify its performance and confirm there are no leaks.
