Two days of practical maintenance conversations
Akaliko PNG exhibited at the PNG Industrial and Mining Resources Exhibition and Conference at The Stanley Hotel & Suites in Port Moresby. The team met mining operators, maintenance professionals, procurement teams, contractors and industry partners from across Papua New Guinea.
Conversations focused on the requirements behind a component repair: its condition, the urgency of the replacement, transport arrangements and the maintenance capacity available at the site.
Services presented at PNG Expo 2026
The Akaliko PNG team presented a range of workshop, component and workforce services:
- Hydraulic cylinder repair and testing, including hard chroming, honing, barrel repair and rod replacement.
- Fabrication, line boring and radiator repair.
- Component inspection, repair and remanufacturing.
- Part exchange and component supply.
- Labour hire for mining and heavy-industry maintenance.
Hydraulic cylinder repair in Port Moresby
Akaliko PNG describes its cylinder repair process as disassembly and inspection, barrel repair, rod replacement, hard chroming, weld repair and final pressure testing. These stages address component damage, critical dimensions and checks before a cylinder returns to service.
The Port Moresby facility also provides hard chroming and line boring. Local workshop support gives customers a team with whom to discuss repair progress and coordinate work around maintenance schedules.
Choosing between repair, remanufacture, replacement or exchange
Depending on the application and condition of the unit, the discussion may cover repair, remanufacturing, replacement supply or part exchange. Under the exchange model Akaliko PNG described, a removed serviceable core is exchanged for a ready-to-install rebuilt component while the original unit goes through the repair process.
Akaliko PNG also presented labour hire for planned work, projects or periods of increased demand, to supplement a customer’s maintenance team. The scope depends on the work the site needs to complete.
