What the 2025 MoU set out
The agreement was formalised in Beijing and announced on 4 July 2025. It set out cooperation in development, sales, remanufacturing and aftermarket maintenance for electrical drives, generators and final drives used in heavy equipment.
The announcement describes a combination of CRRC’s manufacturing capability with Akaliko’s field network and component rebuild knowledge. The intended focus is support for fleets that include equipment from several manufacturers.

A planned wheel-motor and final-drive rebuild centre in Mongolia
The announcement sets out a plan for a specialised final-drive and wheel-motor rebuild centre, beginning in Mongolia. It describes the proposed centre as a pilot for a model that could later extend to other countries.
This was planned development in the July 2025 announcement. That announcement does not establish that the centre has opened or that the proposed expansion has taken place.

Intended benefits for customers
The stated aims include component supply and remanufacturing, shorter lead times for critical drivetrain parts and lower total cost of ownership for large mining equipment. These are objectives of the cooperation, rather than measured outcomes reported in the announcement.
The announcement also describes an intention to develop joint support for customers in Southern Africa. No completed facility, delivery programme or quantified result is specified for that regional work.
Facility commissioning, later project activity and customer outcomes would need a separate update.
