Maintenance is necessary for all machines. It is absolutely necessary to utilize a component’s life cycle completely. Every movable part deteriorates over time, losing its mechanical and chemical properties. These parts need to be repaired, cleaned, and replaced. Hydraulic cylinders are no exception.

Hydraulic cylinders consist of mechanical pieces such as pistons, rods, barrels, valves, etc. Like other machines, hydraulic cylinders need maintenance as well. Some parts such as seal kits and cracked and worn pistons must be changed when they complete their life cycle.

Other parts can be regained with special applications — chrome coating for example can be applied to scratched rods. Barrels can be honed if the scratches are not too deep. 

In hydraulic cylinder maintenance, the cylinder must be entirely disassembled.

After being elaborately inspected, problematic parts are determined. With special applications, rods and barrels can be regained if possible. If not, they are changed with new ones. After completing the maintenance, cylinders are sent to the test bench. We test for inner and outer leakages, closed and open dimensions, and whether the movement is smooth or not. Once done, the cylinder is delivered to the customer with the test results and a maintenance summary form.
