Akaliko understands that your privacy is important. Akaliko is committed to protecting your privacy and personal information.
This Privacy Statement only applies to the personal information you provide or as you access and use materials on akaliko.global or other Akaliko websites, including Akaliko subscription pages or other Akaliko websites or apps that post a link to this Privacy Statement (collectively, the “Site”) as well as personal information that you submit to Akaliko in response to a request for information or other outreach from Akaliko.
Depending on your relationship with Akaliko, additional or different privacy statements may apply to you. For our privacy practices in connection with the personal information we obtain from your access to and use of our tools and solutions and the research and development thereof.
As Akaliko is headquartered in the Kingdom of Thailand, our processing of personal information is primarily governed by the Thailand Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) (“PDPA”). Where we operate in other jurisdictions, we also comply with applicable local data protection laws.

Personal Information That We Collect
Account, registration, subscription, and marketing
Akaliko collects information from you when you create your account or register for certain pages for the Site, request copies of publications, subscribe for email newsletters and press releases, seek additional information regarding our services, and for marketing communications (via emails, social media platforms) from Akaliko based on your consent where required.
Personal information that we collect includes names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, employment information that may identify you (such as company, job title, or position), IP address, geo location, subject areas of interest, and/or demographic information.
If you do not provide such information, you may not be able to create an account or register for certain pages for the Site, request copies of publications, subscribe for email newsletters and press releases, or seek additional information regarding our services.
Events and surveys
Akaliko collects information if you register for conferences and other Akaliko-sponsored events, and/or take part in surveys run by Akaliko.
Personal information that we collect includes names, email addresses, employment or education information that may identify you (such as company, job title, or position), dietary preferences, IP address, unique personal identifiers, subject areas of interest, and/or demographic information.
Cookies and other tracking technologies
Akaliko may use cookies and other tracking technologies as described in the “Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies” section of this Privacy Statement below and our cookie consent managers.
Akaliko collects information from you when you visit our offices. Visitors are often required to sign in at reception, and we may collect personal information from you, including your name, email address, and government-issued ID. We may capture certain personal information in and immediately outside our offices, including audio, images, and footage on CCTV or other audio, video, and related security or monitoring systems.
How we might use your personal information
Legitimate interests (PDPA Section 24(5))
For the purposes of safeguarding the legitimate interests pursued by Akaliko, where such interests are not overridden by your fundamental rights. This includes:
Communicating with you and managing your requests in relation to your account, registration, subscriptions to Akaliko newsletters, publications, events and survey participations
Tailoring your experience at the Site with relevant Akaliko materials
Understanding the Site’s user population, identifying subject areas of interest, and determining whether the Site is designed to work with the device settings of a majority of our visitors

Consent (PDPA Section 19)
Insofar as you have granted us consent to the processing of personal information for specific purposes, the lawfulness of such processing is based on your consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at the details provided in the “Contact Us” section below. Please note that the withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Legal obligation (PDPA Section 24(6))
For compliance with a legal obligation to which Akaliko is subject. This includes anti-fraud and anti-money laundering measures as well as tax and social security requirements.
Contractual necessity (PDPA Section 24(3))
Where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party or in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract.

International Transfers of Personal Information
Because Akaliko is a global organization with operations across approximately 20 countries, we may need to transfer personal information which is collected on the Site or through other means as described under this Privacy Statement across the Akaliko group of companies (https://akaliko.global/locations) or to third parties listed above to help operate our business efficiently.
These arrangements may involve your personal information being transferred to and stored in various countries around the world where Akaliko and such third parties maintain systems and applications, and where privacy laws may differ from those in your home jurisdiction. Under the PDPA, Akaliko ensures that the destination country has adequate data protection standards, or that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Personal Data Protection Committee (“PDPC”). For transfers from other jurisdictions, we comply with applicable local data transfer requirements.
The personal information is only accessible by authorized persons or vendors who are bound by privacy requirements, and we only make these arrangements or transfers where we are satisfied that adequate levels of protection are in place to protect personal information held in that country. In addition, the Site may be viewed and accessed anywhere in the world including countries that may not have laws regulating the use and transfer of personal information.
Retention of Your Personal Information
Akaliko retains your personal information for so long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected. The criteria used to determine our retention periods include:

Akaliko may use cookies and other tracking technologies on this Site and in our communications with you. A “cookie” is a small amount of data sent from a web server to your browser and stored on your device. Cookies and other tracking technologies allow us to operate the Site and our services, remember your preferences, collect information about how you use our Site and our services, and provide you with content that may be of interest. Akaliko has in place appropriate technological and operational security processes designed to protect personal information. Only authorized employees and contractors will have access to any personal information provided by you, and that access is limited by need. Each employee or contractor having access to any personal information is obligated to maintain its confidentiality. Although we take steps that are generally accepted as industry standard to protect your personal information, Akaliko cannot guarantee that your personal information will not become accessible to unauthorized persons and Akaliko cannot be responsible for any actions resulting from a breach of security when personal information is supplied over the internet or any public network.

Compliance With Law
Akaliko may be compelled to surrender personal information to legal authorities if presented with a court subpoena or similar legal or administrative order, or as required or permitted by the laws, rules and regulations of any nation, state, or other applicable jurisdiction. Also, in the event of a violation of the terms and conditions of use of the Site or a violation of any restrictions on use of materials provided in or through the Site, we may disclose personal information to our affected business partners or legal authorities.

Children
Akaliko understands the importance of protecting children’s privacy, particularly in their online interactions. This Site is not designed for and does not intentionally target or solicit children. Under the PDPA, a minor is defined as a person under 20 years of age, and collection, use, or disclosure of personal information of a minor requires consent from the person exercising parental authority. In other jurisdictions where Akaliko operates, different age thresholds may apply (for example, under 18 or under 16). Akaliko complies with the applicable age requirements in each jurisdiction.

This U.S. Addendum applies to U.S. residents and supplements the information provided above in the Privacy Statement. This U.S. Addendum provides U.S. residents with certain information under U.S. state data privacy laws, including, but not limited to, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CPRA”).
Collection, Disclosure, Selling, and Sharing of Personal Information and Targeted Advertising
The following list details which categories of personal information we collect and process both online and offline, as well as which categories of personal information we disclose to third parties for our operational business purposes, including within the 12 months preceding the date this Privacy Statement was last updated. The list also details the categories of personal information that we “sell” and “share”, including within the preceding 12 months. Akaliko does not “sell” or “share” your personal information in exchange for monetary consideration. We will verify and respond to your request consistent with applicable law, taking into account the type and sensitivity of the personal information subject to the request. We may need to request additional personal information from you in order to verify your identity and protect against fraudulent requests. If you make a request to delete, we may ask you to confirm your request before we delete your personal information.
In connection with certain Sites, you may opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information or “targeted advertising” described above by sending certain browser enabled opt-out signals, such as the Global Privacy Control. Alternatively, in connection with certain Sites, you may opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information or “targeted advertising” described above by visiting the cookie consent manager and changing settings to only utilize essential cookies.
Authorized Agents
If an agent would like to make a request on your behalf as permitted under applicable law, the agent may use the submission methods noted in the section entitled “Privacy Rights”. As part of our verification process, we may request that the agent provide, as applicable, proof concerning their status as an authorized agent. In addition, we may require that you verify your identity as described in the section entitled “Privacy Rights” or confirm that you provided the agent permission to submit the request.
Appeal Process
If you have made a privacy rights request to Akaliko and believe your request was denied by Akaliko, you can exercise your right to appeal the results of your request by using the submission methods noted in the section entitled “Privacy Rights”. Please use the same email address that you used to submit the initial privacy rights request when you submit your request to appeal, and please add “Request to Appeal” in the subject line of the email. If you do not use the same email address, we cannot link your request to appeal to your initial privacy rights request. If your appeal is unsuccessful, depending upon the state in which you reside, you may have the right to raise a concern or lodge a complaint with your state attorney general or other applicable authority.
